Singing opera

Opera accessible to all children

In 2023, in collaboration with the Fondation Culture pour l’Enfancewe launched theSinging opera“, a program to raise awareness of opera in a priority-education school, featuring introductory workshops in opera singing created by our artists, and a short final performance at the Musée Jacquemart-André.

See the video of the first edition:

The enthusiasm and wonder of the children encouraged us to continue developing the project with a new edition in 2024!

The project offers 25 children far removed from culture an immersive discovery of the art of opera.
In addition to introducing them to opera practice and helping them discover the heritage of their region, our project aims to open up new prospects for their future.

This year, a CM2 class from the Gustave Rouanet REP+ school in the 18th arrondissement of Paris will be taking part in the project.

A journey in four stages

The program is structured in several stages to encourage sequenced learning and a deeper connection with the artists.

1st stage: the educational workshop – 1h30 in-class workshop, led by a professional mediator, on the history of the Musée Jacquemart-André and the Salon de Musique.

2nd stage: a visit to the Musée Jacquemart-André – A guided tour of the museum led by a professional mediator.

3rd stage: singing workshops – 6 workshops of 1h30 of artistic practice led by Opera a Palazzo artists Emilie-Rose Bry (soprano), Christophe Poncet de Solages (tenor) and Katia Weimann (pianist – vocal coach).

4th stage: return to the Musée Jacquemart-André – The real highlight of the project will be the children’s singing performance in the heart of an emblematic venue, the Jacquemart-André Museum’s Salon de Musique.
By bringing this space back to life, they will be able to promote their participation in the project to their friends and families: by regaining confidence in their abilities, the children will become more involved in their schooling.

Concert program:

  • La donna è mobile, Rigoletto, Giuseppe Verdi
  • Le Chœur des gamins, Carmen, Georges Bizet
  • The Papageno-Papagena duet, The Magic Flute, Mozart

Sessions will start at the beginning of September, and the final event will take place at the end of November.

The budget

The budget for the program is €11,000, including educational and creative workshops, a visit to the Musée Jacquemart-André, the work of the opera singers and the organization of the concert.
